Using simulated case studies, this program provides students with theoretical and practical knowledge required to meet the needs of the medical community for skilled medical transcriptionists. Students apply theoretical knowledge to the accurate transcription, within a specified time limit, of complex medical reports and correspondence generated by the many medical specialties. Employment opportunities may include medical transcribers positions in hospital departments of Health Records, Diagnostic Imaging, and Pathology, in various medical clinics, or in private practice specialties and other community facilities, physicians offices, and online transcription companies. This certificate is available entirely through distance education.
